As Unto Him

I went to work today. Sometimes, I just don’t want to go to work. I feel tired, stressed and angry because of things and my situations and work is just something that I don’t want to add to my weekly agenda.

As I was on my way to work, I gave my Taid (Grandad for those of you who don’t know Welsh) a call and told him all my recent news. He asked me how I was feeling about work. I told him. And he said…

As unto the Lord. What he means is this verse here:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ~ Colossians 3:23-24.

This is such a challenge! But in all honesty, I went to work with these verses on my mind and it made things a little better. In the quiet times I prayed, and in the busy times I put all my effort in. I’m writing this blog post feeling very tired now, but at least I can say that I honoured the Lord and did my work as unto him.

Jesus makes everything better doesn’t he?!

I know exactly how you feel Dean. There are times when I’m walking to work at 6am when I would rather be still cwtched up, or in the middle of the day when I’d rather be in the library. Your taid was right, it may be difficult to spend 7 hours working with certain people, but as Paul says in Philippians, “Do everything without complaining”.

    Dal ati Dean.
