Seeking first the Kingdom of my Lord

Last night, I was at church and we were talking about worry. We’re currently going through the Sermon on the Mount. The thing I love about the Sermon on the Mount is that Jesus is speaking Himself. It’s the best sermon ever preached; the purest, wholesome sermon. It’s full of truth and wise words that can be practically implicated into the believers own life. So we’ve been combing through the sermon. Then last night we got to Matthew 6:33. It says,

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

So basically, we looked at this verse in light of worry. But as I thought about this verse, it occurred to me that this is applicable to more than worry; it’s applicable to everything in life. Here in this verse, the heart of Jesus is revealed. It is the priority of the Father shown through the Son that The Kingdom of God breaks into the world, and that the Righteousness of Christ reigns within the hearts of mankind.
It’s such a big call for Jesus to put on us, but at the same time it’s a huge blessing. He’s calling us to share in The Kingdom that cannot be shaken, and to put on His righteousness in order to show others the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Hallelujah for Jesus!
