Believe and be baptised

So this morning at church, we had a baptism service! It was an exciting day for us at church because it was the first believers baptism to be conducted in the church building. All the rest have been in the sea!
Anyway, it was a lady called Janwynne being baptised. I love baptism. In the New Testament, Jesus says that after a person believes in him, they should be baptised. In John 3:5, Jesus talks about being born of water and the spirit….
Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
This doesn’t mean that baptism itself saves you… Jesus here is talking of Salvation. We have to be born again. And to provide us with an image of this Jesus chose baptism. A very powerful image of man descending into the ‘grave’ as Christ did, and then raised again to walk in newness of life, being made ‘alive in Christ’.
Therefore, Janwynne was baptised because she wanted everyone to know of a change inside of her made visible through Baptism. That change was coming to know Jesus for herself.
What an amazing day! Praying for more at our church!
