What is this SOPA / PIPA malarkey that people keep talking about?

Some of you may be aware that talk of ‘SOPA’ and ‘PIPA’ has been going around the internet. Most notably, Wikipedia had a notice on their site a few days ago about this.

So, what is it? Basically, the US Government are thinking of passing a bill which will dramatically change the way we use the internet. Most internet sites have their servers in the USA (including my blog) and this law will basically censor any content that the US Government deems unfit or violates piracy laws (a bit like what China and Iran do with their internet). This can range from people copying pictures of website to misquoting people on webpages. Serious stuff.

I’ve attached a vide for you to watch (Excuse the title and sorry it’s a little long [20mins]) but you seriously need to know the potential threat that this bill could have on all of us.

Anyway, here it is. Have a look and let me know any thoughts, concerns or questions via the comments.
