Christians can be too serious.

Christians can be too serious? Too right they can be. I bet it’s one of the most off putting things for those who aren’t Christians… Christians who can’t laugh, can’t joke and take every little thing too seriously.

Something I’ve had to learn about seriousness is that sometimes you need to hold things in your hands lightly. Yeah, sure, there are times to be serious, and I would never suggest that life shouldn’t be taken seriously. But there are times for laugher, relaxation and joking.

To be honest though, I wish Christians were more serious about releasing captives, setting prisoners free, proclaiming Good News, bringing the Kingdom of the Almighty God and waiting on the Spirit. If they were just as serious about those things as they are about Bible translations, what hymns should be sung in church, what flowers should go under the pulpit and other pitifully trivial matters then the world would be a completely different place. I’m convinced of it.
