The Porn Industry: Victimizing and Terrorizing Our Generation
Ten years ago I attended a men’s conference in the Santa Cruz Mountains. One of the speakers, whose name I forget but whose message I never will, got up to talk about his recent addiction to pornography. He detailed how he slid down the slope from a teen-aged casual interest to middle-aged life-swallowing compulsion, eventually becoming withdrawn, despondent and even suicidal before he finally was rescued by God. An audience of about 60 men sat transfixed.
What happened next was what I’ll never forget. Read more
Child Soldiers – Some words don’t belong together: To all the confused over Invisible Children and Kony12, Support WAR CHILD.

So, yesterday we were all bombarded with the new campaign to stop Joseph Kony brutally abducting children and using them as soldiers to gain power for himself. The campaign is called Kony12 and you can see the video and all that jazz by clicking here.
HOWEVER, it wasn’t until I’d done a little research that I found out the other side of the story, about non transparency, methodology to stop Kony amongst other things. Again Read more
EDIT: Both sides of the story: The LORDs Resistance Army: Stopping the LRA and Joseph Kony #Kony12 @Invisible

I thought I should share this with you considering the fact that literally everyone is talking about it. If you haven’t heard about it yet, then I’m not going to say anything. Just watch:
KONY 2012 from INVISIBLE CHILDREN on Vimeo.
It is an absolute disgrace that this is being done in the name of God. Everyone, especially the Church needs to take action NOW.
Please visit Invisible Children to find out how you can get involved. I can’t really urge you to visit now considering the edit below:
EDIT: However, I have done some research and found the following:
We got trouble.
For those asking what you can do to help, please link to visiblechildren.tumblr.com wherever you see KONY 2012 posts. And tweet a link to this page to famous people on Twitter who are talking about KONY 2012!
I do not doubt for a second that those involved in KONY 2012 have great intentions, nor do I doubt for a second that Joseph Kony is a very evil man. But despite this, I’m strongly opposed to the KONY 2012 campaign.
KONY 2012 is the product of a group called Invisible Children, a controversial activist group and not-for-profit. They’ve released 11 films, most with an accompanying bracelet colour (KONY 2012 is fittingly red), all of which focus on Joseph Kony. When we buy merch from them, when we link to their video, when we put up posters linking to their website, we support the organization. I don’t think that’s a good thing, and I’m notalone.
Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again Read more
Abigail, marriage and godly hair

Recently I read this post from Matthew Paul Turner talking about Michelle Duggar’s “Seven Basic Needs of a Husband”. It includes:
- Details of how a man needs to prove his manliness and asks how a wife can destroy her husband’s manliness.
- Ensuring a wife lets her husband hear her praising him to others
- Explains how a wife needs to accept her husband as leader, including a wife telling her husband how his *bad* decisions are benefitting her spiritual Read more
Mothers, your new born Baby has no right to life.

At least, that’s what some “experts” say. Yes, the Telegraph has published an article which includes expert ‘ethicists’ stating things like:
“The moral status of an infant is equivalent to that of a fetus in the sense that both lack those properties that justify the attribution of a right to life to an individual.”
and
“Both a fetus and a newborn certainly are human beings and potential persons, but neither is a ‘person’ in the sense of ‘subject of a moral right to life. We take ‘person’ to mean an individual who is capable of attributing to her own existence some (at least) basic value such that being deprived of this existence represents a loss to her.”
Big Read 2012: Week 2: Echoes “Calming the storm” @BigBible #BigRead12
In Mark 4: 35-41, we see Jesus command power over creation when he calms a storm. Whilst this echoes that of creation and of the rescue of the Israelites in the Old Testament, what seems most interesting is the reaction of the disciples. Do we ever react the same way? This is where we began with our discussion at Small Group this week, as part of the Big Read 2012 Lent Course on Mark’s Gospel, with Tom Wright.
You’ll Never Walk Alone

I’ve been thinking about this post for a little while. I’ve been pondering these precious thoughts over the Christmas break, and I’m now ready to share them with you.
I’m a very sociable and friendly person. I like to be with people and to share in good company. I love loving relationships, I value friendships and I love it when people get along. Sadly, life doesn’t Read more
“Promiscuity doesn’t need to be a dirty word” – Whatever!
Most of the time, I love being a student. I love the vibe of being one. I love the fact that we’re all exploring life together. I love going to uni, and I love making friends. But there are certain times where I just want to vomit all over Student Culture. Read more
Standing up for Marital Purity & Standing against the promotion of Marital Affairs
Do you think it’s right to encourage people to have an affair, and then get money out of it? I don’t. And I think it’s absolutely disgusting.
Marriage is being increasingly belittled and degraded in British Society, and now, Read more
“When you’re dead… you’re dead!”
In this generation, it seems to me that death is a taboo subject. When people start talking about death, the subject is quickly changed. Even though death is one of the few certain things in life, people don’t want to talk about it. But the fact is that everyone will die. And we are all just ticking time bombs, waiting Read more
