Get involved: The Big Bible Project Big Read 2012. #BigBible #BigRead12 @BigBible @SPCKPublishing
So, my last post was a book review on ‘Lent For Everyone, Mark Year B’ By Tom Wright. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read the review, which you can find here. But now, I want to draw your attention to Lent itself.
Yes, it doesn’t feel that long since it was Christmas, but Lent is upon us! And we only have one Sunday left to advertise and share with our churches what we plan to do throughout the period of Lent.
Well, I have an idea for you, which I seriously think you should consider and take on Read more
Why I love my church
Thought I’d do a little shout out for my church, St Paul’s Newport today. St Paul’s is one of those churches that is spelt J E S U S to be honest. I love it. And here are the reasons why…
- The church is a church that primarily loves Jesus
- The leadership team are faithful, committed and Christ centred.
- The Bible is preached and proclaimed every week
- They are unified in the Gospel
- They are able to be different because of unity in the Gospel
- They are mission minded
- They follow the mandate of Jesus in Luke 4
- They are open to change within the Church and the community
- They seek new ways of presenting the Gospel to the unchurched.
- They are a church of love and acceptance
- Every visitor gets a warm welcome.
- They help define what the church should be – a family, a body with Christ at the head.
- They are concerned about making sure that the body follow the Great Commission.
There are many other reasons why I love St Paul’s, but I feel that these are probably the top reasons. No church is perfect, and everyone at St Paul’s including me knows that. But I feel that this is a good place to be. And this is my prayer; that the church of Christ becomes what Jesus wants it to be rather than what we desire it to be for our individual and selfish needs.
