What is faith if you cannot defend it?

Today, I’ve been thinking about faith. And today I’ve decided to write a post on faith, and hopefully you will tell me what you think about it. You see, when people think of faith, they attach certain opinions to it, such as…

  • It’s biased
  • It’s ‘blind faith’
  • It has no rationality to it
  • It doesn’t carry any weight
  • It’s a mechanism for coping
And the list goes on. Well, today, I’ve been thinking specifically about Christian faith (I hope you don’t mind if I talk about Christian faith, because this blog is primarily Christian; though input from other philosophies and religions will be most welcome). And the result of my thinking was this Twitter Status (and the title of this post):

It’s occurred to me that faith isn’t very valuable if we cannot defend it. What do I mean by this? Read more

God chooses to be powerless? What?!

I’ve been doing a lot of work recently that involves talking about the nature of God. When talking about the nature of God, you often find yourself trying to explain things that contradict God’s nature, especially the fact that we live in a world of suffering, evil and pain. Before we go any further, I just want to point out that this post isn’t going to be as morbid as I’ve started it out to be! Read more

The question is Read more

God and Justice in relation to eternity

Posted on by Dean Roberts Posted in Apologetics | 3 Comments

A while back, I asked the question “If you could ask God one question, what would it be?”. You can read the post here. The reality was that people who answered that question in the comments box had many questions to ask God. And some users wanted to know my answers to some of those questions. So, I hope to answer some Read more

“Religion is just a crutch for weak people”, “I have no need for Jesus” “I’m alright as I am”, “I don’t see why I have to be religious” “I’m trying my best” “I’m a good person” : All of these statements are summed up in one major objection to Jesus, “I don’t need God”

Before I start exploring this objection, I would like to point out that this post is by no means exhaustive. I’m sure Read more
